Community Education
The MERI Center also focuses on helping patients and their caregivers cope with serious illness. Monthly advance care planning sessions are offered, free of charge.
Workshops and events will be conducted regularly to educate and engage our community in issues related to Palliative Care and end of life issues.
Professional Education
Palliative Care can help people at any stage of a serious illness and may take place alongside medical treatment to cure the patient's disease. The MERI center is dedicated to expanding primary palliative care at the UCSF/Mount Zion campus through a series of quality improvement projects and through on-going education for all levels of UCSF staff—Doctors, Nurses, Social Workers, Chaplains, Medical Assistants, Receptionists and anyone else!
We want to provide an infrastructure in which palliative care is understood and recognized to ensure that patients' wishes for their medical care are both known and honored.
We will update this site regularly with information about Professional educational events, workshops and resources.
